BEAT PIECE

Don’t cheap out and go to the Museum of Modern Art on the Free Friday’s. I did it last time and it was like hell – hoards of fat and clueless tourists dawdling aimlessly through galleries, talking loudly on mobiles, congregating en masse to take photos in front of an artwork they remember seeing once in a high school art book so that they can share it on Facebook and pretend to not look entirely self obsessed, because guys, it’s like, totally “culture”.

My last visit to the MOMA was like, totally more dignified.

The gallery is home to some pieces by a few of my all time favourite artists, including Egon Schiele, Mark Rothko and Alice Neel. I love the journey through the gallery, following the birth and evolution of modern art and it’s bliss still being surprised at how you can always find something new, passionate and electric in a piece of art that you might have seen a thousand times before (albiet on a computer screen or uni textbook).

We were lucky enough to catch the Yoko Ono exhibit this time around and that woman and her whimsical and intriguing ocean child of a mind never ceases to amaze me.

Listen to heart beat. Just do it.

SHOW US YA TITS

We’ve finally released HIDDEN CANDY’s debut EP, with cover art by yours truly. Love the songs, and am so excited to show them off at our first gig on Wed 24th June at Frankie’s Pizza. We’ll have physical CDs for sale on the night, but you can also buy the EP on iTunes or have a listen on Spotify.

EXPOSED CANDY

So excited to release our shiny, brand new single from my rock & roll band, HIDDEN CANDY. It’s been a long time coming, with plenty of rehearsals, recording, mixing, mastering, etc. But it’s finally done and it’s here for the world to see (well, hear.)

The Music premiered the track on their site today and you can check it out HERE.

POLE POSITION

Five years ago, I started up pole dancing for fitness. I had to stop after a few terms due to work commitments but halfway through last year I started up again and realised how much I had bloody missed it. High heels. Rock music. Slutty costumes. Sold.

It is a great form of exercise, working your strength, cardio and flexibility, but it has also been really beneficial in improving my body image issues, making me feel stronger, fitter and more babein’.

As a personal challenge, I’m performing a solo routine in the upcoming Solotude show at The Vanguard in Newtown. Gonna get my groupie on with a piece inspired by my Coke & Sympathy heroine, Wild Delilah.

“[Men] won the battle of the sexes when women started pole dancing for exercise” – Crazy, Stupid, Love

Touche.

Here I am with two of my pole sisters, [un]dressed and ready to perform our Showcase routine.

PUPPY PORTRAITS

Had so much fun painting these cuties, Bansky & Pip, the other day! Everyone deserves a perfect, watercolour portrait of their pets, so please get in touch with me if you’ve got a cuddly little fluff that just needs to be painted!!!

SUCK IT

Just had our HIDDEN CANDY photo shoot, where I got sick from too many lollipops. But we’re mixing the EP this week and I’m super excited to share it with the universe. It’s been a long time coming and I can’t wait to get it into people’s ears. The website is up too, at www.hidden-candy.com

BAND CANDY

Currently in the studio putting the final finishing touches on the Hidden Candy EP. Lots of blood, sweat and beers have gone into the making of this record and I’m so excited to release it in the next few months and bring the songs to life on stages all across the country. Lets get naughty.

NEW YORK CITY

Thanks to the Ian Potter Cultural Trust, I’ve just gotten back from a one month stay in the city that never sleeps! I was undertaking a performing arts mentorship with Horse TRADE Theatre Company, on the Lower East Side, and had an absolute ball! The city is utterly electric – throbbing with sound and colour and lights, and I was lucky enough to check out a handful of Broadway shows, heaps of live bands, and Billy Joel live at Madison Square Garden! An incredible experience, and one that I won’t soon forget.
