A post on my erotica blog, The Body Electric, got a re-blog by some Tumblr kingpin’s recently and I’ve been loving all the action I’ve had for this sketch. It’s nice to hold hands.
Starting a brand new mixed media, portrait series exploring women exposed, open to violation yet poised to devour. I love reworking the sensual into the cold and sexualised figures discovered in Tumblr porn searches. Breathing a new life into these bodies.
Today for my #facemyfeels challenge I did a quick sketch of James Dean. What a dreamboat. Am enjoying the portrait style and keen to try some larger scale portraits out in the same vibe. If you’re interested in purchasing this picture, it’s A4 size. Make me an offer.
This month I’ve given myself the challenge of a new portrait every day. I’m calling it #facemyfeels, as I attempt to explore and represent different faces that inspire, encourage, and astound me. My project is already underway on Instagram and you can follow me @ashking, or search my hashtag #facemyfeels to see the portraits so far. Here’s one of my faves of my spunky man, in pen.

I’ve experienced a lot of Yoko bashing in my time, with people harping on about her being the death of The Beatles, the fall of John Lennon, and other nasty things. I think she’s divine. Her mind moves in such a captivating and inspiring way, and after seeing her exhibition last year at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney and most recently, her show at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, I felt compelled to pledge my allegiance.
I have big dreams of owning an Australian Shepherd one day. They’re smart, beautiful dogs with a big heart and boundless energy.
One of my favourite Aussie’s is Ellie, who I follow on Instagram. She just floors me with her gorgeous coat and her huge grin. And so I decided I had to paint her portrait. Here it is!
To anyone who ever calls into question my long and enduring love of 60s, 70s & 80s rock music, I give you this.
